From 1982 to 1998 I was serving at Willow Creek
Community Church and involved in youth ministry in one
form or another. For most of my years there, I ran competition
games for the youth teams. But I also worked with a
drama director and later wrote and directed some dramas for Student Impact, Willow's high school ministry. I now live in Charlottesville, VA and attend a church here called Northridge Community Church
where I have the opportunity to write and direct the drama for the Sunday services.
I write almost everything we do. I do this because: 1) I need dramas that are very specific to what the Pastor is speaking on and 2) I need shorter dramas that only require a few actors and are very easy to memorize. I decided to make these dramas available to anyone who had a drama ministry (or who wanted to start a drama ministry) at their church. I will post everything I've written to date with directors notes. I will also be posting new dramas as soon as I have written them.
How much is this going to cost me?
Nothing. They're free - my gift to you and your ministry!
Anything else I should know?
Now, let's talk about how and why I write a drama. Don't skip this section. It will tell you if these dramas are right for you and your church. It's important for me to point out that I am merely a layman, part-time director. The philosophy on contemporary church dramas on the following page is my own. I've developed it from working in church dramas and following leadings from the Holy Spirit. That being said, read on!
